About RepsCounter
A camera that counts your reps, so the set gets your attention and the arithmetic gets none of it.
Why it exists
Because I can't count while I'm working out — or rather, I don't want to. Counting quietly takes a slice of attention away from the movement, and mid-set the number is always the first thing to go. A phone propped on the floor already has a camera; it may as well be the thing keeping score.
What it does
- Counts 25 movements, from squats, push-ups and lunges to bicep curls, kickboxing combinations, cricket batting and a golf swing.
- Speaks up every five reps and calls the end of your rest, so you don't have to look at the screen.
- Runs the set and rest timers for you, and calibrates to your range as you move.
- Keeps your history, your streak and a 30-day heatmap on the device.
Why the streaks
Motivation is the harder half of training — the tracking was never the problem. A streak is a small, visible reason to do one set today, and the heatmap makes the weeks where you showed up obvious at a glance. That is all it is: a nudge to start, not a scoreboard to defend.
What leaves your phone
The camera feed doesn't. Pose tracking runs on the device with a 5.5 MB model you download once, and the video is never recorded or uploaded. Workout history stays in your browser, and signing in is optional — it only exists to sync your sets between devices. After the first load the app keeps working offline.
Who's building it
I'm Troy (troysk.com). In 2026 I'm shipping one product every month, and RepsCounter is October's. It is the one I built because counting reps was the part of training I kept skipping — and the one I still open every session.
